CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION
Kyra is a Registered Nurse, Registered Acupuncturist, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and Birth Doula. She has 10 years of experience working as an RN in Labour and Delivery. Kyra also taught prenatal education for 2.5 years through the Middlesex London Health Unit. Throughout her career, Kyra has immersed herself in learning about physiological birth, while also gaining a deep understanding of the advantages and unique challenges of hospital births. Kyra blends the beauty and principles of physiological birth with the practical considerations of delivering a baby in a hospital setting, offering holistic support to families.

Childbirth Education- 4 class series
Duration: 2 hours per class
Location: Our classes will be held at various locations in London, Ontario. A confirmation email will be sent with the exact location of the classes once you’ve registered.

Class 1-Labour and Delivery: All About Birth! In this session, we dive into the stages of labor and the process of pushing, while exploring birth hormones and their influence on your body during labour. We’ll cover a variety of comfort measures and pain management techniques to help you feel empowered and confident on your birth journey. Plus, we’ll discuss what your partner or support team can do to assist and support you throughout the process.
Class 2-Post Partum: What does having a baby in the hospital look like? Explore the experience of giving birth in a hospital setting, including what to expect during your stay. Learn about the most common medical interventions that may take place during labor and delivery. Discover what happens immediately after you have your baby, including the “golden hour” and essential newborn care. Explore the concept of the "4th trimester" and what physical and emotional changes you may experience as you adjust to life with your newborn. Learn tips for self-care during the early weeks at home and how your partner/support team can best assist you.
Class 3-Breastfeeding: Learn all about breastfeeding. We’ll discuss the many benefits of breastfeeding and explore the Canadian recommendations for breastfeeding. You’ll learn strategies to support and sustain a healthy milk supply, as well as how to properly position and latch your baby. This workshop is designed to help you start your breastfeeding journey on the right foot!
Class 4-Parenting and Newborn: What do I do with a newborn? Join Gaya Care to learn everything you need to know about caring for your newborn and navigating parenthood. Discover newborn characteristics, how to take care of your baby, including diaper changes and giving your newborn a bath. In addition, gain valuable parenting skills that will help you build confidence as you embark on your new journey into parenthood.
